"The Sacrifice" (1986 Sweden)
by Andrei Tarkovsky
Alexander, an aging atheist actor/psychologist/writer with a younger wife, a teenage daughter, and a young son, experiences the opening throes of the end of the world by a nuclear holocaust. In despair the protagonist vows to God to sacrifice all he loves to keep the war from happening.

"Blow-Up" (1966 UK)
by Michelangelo Antonioni
A successful mod photographer in London whose world is bounded by fashion, pop music, marijuana, and easy sex. Bored with a photoshoot, he wanders into a park and photographs two lovers. The woman is furious with him, and later when he blows up the photograph, he sees possible evidence of a murder. A provocative film about perception and voyeurism.

"An Autumn Afternoon" (1964 Japan)
by Yasujirô Ozu
Though widower Shuhei Hirayama has been living comfortably for years with his grown daughter, a series of events leads him to accept and encourage her marriage and departure. Ozu’s final film was also his final masterpiece.

"Claire's Knee" (1970 France)
by Eric Rhomer
Cultural attaché Jerome spends his last holidays as a bachelor at Lake Annecy where he meets Aurora, an Italian writer and old friend. She talks him into a flirt with his landlady's teenage daughter, Laura, but he falls for Laura's half-sister Claire and develops a desire to caress her knee.
Doors open at 7:45 pm and close at 8:15, so get there on time!
